NULL ID is built to share identity, not to track people. This page explains exactly what we store.
If you have an account
- Your email address and a salted hash of your password (we never see the password itself).
- Everything you put on your profile. Your profile is public unless you switch it off.
- A session cookie (
nid_session) that keeps you signed in. It’s the only cookie we set. - Uploaded images are re-encoded, which strips EXIF data including GPS location.
If you visit a profile
- We set no cookies on visitors.
- We count a view with: the date and time, the country (looked up from your IP address, and the IP is then discarded), the device type (mobile / tablet / desktop) and the referring site.
- To count unique visitors without tracking you, we compute a one-way hash of your IP address and browser with a random salt that is replaced every day. The same person can’t be recognised from one day to the next.
- Link clicks are counted the same way.
Rich cards
Steam, Discord and GitHub cards show public data fetched by our server from those platforms. Your visitors’ browsers load avatar images directly from those platforms’ image servers.
Retention and deletion
Analytics events are kept for 400 days. Deleting your account permanently removes your profile, links, uploads and analytics.
